AVOIDING CACHED WEB PAGES IN AOL

1- Click on the "My AOL" button at the top of the screen and choose "Preferences".

2- From the Preferences window, click on "WWW". An "AOL Internet Properties" window should appear.

3- Under the "General" tab, look down about halfway to the section called "Temporary Internet Files" and click on the "Settings" button.

4- In the "Settings" window that opens, look under the section labelled "Check for newer versions of stored pages". There are three options:

• Every visit to the page - Specifies that when you return to a page you viewed previously, Internet Explorer should check to see whether it changed since you last viewed it. If the page has changed, Internet Explorer displays the new page and stores it in the Temporary Internet Files folder. Internet Explorer checks for changes once per session. Note that selecting this option can slow down browsing between viewed pages.
  
• Everytime you start Internet Explorer - Specifies whether, when you return to a page you viewed previously, Internet Explorer should check to see whether the page has changed since you last viewed it. Selecting this option can speed up browsing between viewed pages. Internet Explorer will check for new content on this page only when you start Internet Explorer.
  If you want to see whether a specific page has been updated even when this option is selected, click the View menu, and then click Refresh.
  
• Never - Specifies whether, when you return to a page you viewed previously, Internet Explorer should never check to see whether the page has changed since you last viewed it. Selecting this check box speeds up browsing between viewed pages. If you want to see whether a specific page has been updated even when this option is selected, click the View menu, and then click Refresh.
  

To avoid viewing outdated, cached pages from your hard drive instead of the latest content, choose one of the first two options above. "Everytime you start Internet Explorer" is the recommended choice.
